Times

The Landscape Film Festival runs from April 11th 2015 at 6pm to April 2015 at 8pm (local time). All the work must take place within this period and each team must ensure that they deliver the final cut of their short film on time.

All films received on Sunday 26th of April (whether on time or late) will be screened at the city's Premiere, but only those that meet the deadline will be officially part of the competition and eligible for any prize.

Starting Point and locations:

Each team will be given a different district within the city -by drawing lots- where their story must be set. While it is not forbidden to film in other areas of the city and / or indoor within reason, the majority of scenes must take place in the streets of the given district.

Genre

You have absolute freedom regarding the genre and style of your short film. Nevertheless it must not infringe third-party's rights; must not contain obscene or pornographic material; may not contain defamatory statements about any person, company, organization or entity; may not invade privacy or other rights of any person, company or entity; may not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations; and may not contain any copyrighted elements.

Duration

Between 6 and 9 minutes (credits not included).

Language

Landscape is both a local and international film festival: the short films will be showcased at the city Premiere on April 30 and internationally when the festival travels to other cities. All shorts must be shot in: Catalan, Spanish or English. If shot in:

Catalan:

you must provide subtitles in English.

Spanish:

you must provide subtitles in English.

English:

you must provide subtitles in Catalan or Spanish.

If the script requires the inclusion of small phrases in additional languages, these must be subtitled in English.

Animation

Animations, special effects and still photographs are permitted, provided you hold all the rights to use them.

Stock footage

Stock footage or footage shot or created at another time is permitted when it serves a specific historical purpose but the images cannot be on screen longer than 30 seconds in total.

Music

In the event that there is no composer in a team, we encourage participants to work with a composer and/or musician(s) to write and record music for the films; however the participating group must have the rights to any music used in its film and must provide releases for all music used. As with music, pre-recorded sound effects are allowed, but you must have rights to use them.

Equipment

Any type of video or film camera may be used.

Format

The finished short film must be in PAL format and submitted in a self-contained HD AVI or MPEG4 file with no proprietary codecs on either a data DVD or a USB flash drive. Sound Stereo.

Quality

All the films must be submitted in HD quality.

Credits

Landscape will provide the credits that must be included in the short films.

Credits at the end of each film are limited to a maximum of 60 seconds.

After the Festival, the short films should retain the end credits "This Film was made for the Landscape Film Festival 2015 www.landscapefilmfestival.org", except when submitted to other film festivals.
